1 Litre Speckled Stoneware Jug
One of my newest additions to my kitchenware collection. As with all my pottery the main section of the jug is thrown on the potters wheel. It is then carefully lifted off the wheel, and while the clay is still wet the spout is gently pulled out. Once dried overnight the handle is pulled from a lump of clay and attached, forming a beautiful gentle curve.
I made a few of these jugs, they are very similar but yours may be slightly different to the image. The white glaze shows the speckled clay underneath and goes from brown to blue around the edges. The turquoise colour also shows the speckled clay through the glaze which varies from greens to blues and greys. The bottom section has been left unglazed to contrast the natural roughness of the clay with the super smooth glazed top.
These jug stand at around 18 cm tall, and are weighted really nicely for pouring. The capacity is just over 1 litre, perfect for water or juice for the family table.
