One Litre Jug

This stoneware jug is one of the newest additions to my kitchenware collection. As with all my pottery the main section of the jug is thrown on the potters wheel. The spout is wiggled out while the clay is still wet. Once it has dried overnight the handle is pulled from a lump of clay and attached forming a beautiful gentle curve.

The capacity is around one litre - perfect for table water or maybe some homemade lemonade? The jugs are dipped in the glaze around two thirds deep. This gives nice contrast between the toasted bare clay and light glazed surface.
