If you're the kind of soul who appreciates a bit of rustic charm with your brew, then pull up a chair – you might just have found your perfect tea companion. These pottery mugs have been a bit of a labour of love, evolving through the ultimate testing ground: our kitchen cupboard! If my Helen reaches for it time and time again, then you know it's a good 'un. That's my highly scientific R&D process in action!
Unlike some of my smoother creations, I've deliberately left the deep throwing lines on these mugs, giving them that wonderfully tactile, rustic vibe. The rim has a subtle lip too, which makes for a surprisingly lovely drinking experience. Glazing these is a bit of an art – the inside gets filled first, then the outside is dipped at a bit of an angle. I play around with those angles to make sure each handmade ceramic mug has its own little quirks.
For me, this size is just spot on for a good old one-bag cup of tea, though I know everyone has their own perfect measure. Bonus? They also slide right under my Nespresso machine for when coffee calls.
